It's that time of year again -- Jeffersonville Steamboat Nights! And we want YOU to be included! We will be making lanterns all month long in August and we want to invite you to join us!
We will hold three workshops during August at NoCo Arts Center and we will have a tent at Steamboat Nights this year on both Friday and Saturday. Check out the full schedule above! Workshops are FREE due to the support of the Indiana Arts Commission, the Community Arts Program, Hanover College and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The showcase of Steamboat Nights will be the Duke Energy Lantern parade. Held Saturday, together we will meet at Big 4 Station Park and walk our lantern creations through the festival. The parade starts at 9:00 p.m. and travels north on Spring Street toward Warder Park. To join us in the parade on Saturday make sure to get your free ticket through our Eventbrite page, here.
Featured Lantern at Workshop:
We understand that not all people are as confident as others in their artistic abilities -- which is why this year, we are introducing Featured Lanterns for each workshop. JAA will be providing instruction on how to craft specific lantern designs at each workshop, and these specific lantern designs will be the "Featured" Lantern for that workshop date. There are a variety of designs to best fit all levels of skill from young artists to mature artisans. Here is a list of our featured lanterns at each workshop:
August 3, 2019: Back to School Bugs
August 16, 2019: Ombre Prisms
August 24, 2019: Picasso Faces
